Why I Do What I Do

A few years ago I was privileged to participate in a leadership retreat facilitated by Ken Blanchard. He asked us if our organizations had a mission statement. Everyone raised their hands, with a few emphatic shouts of “Yes!” Then he asked if we had our own personal purpose statements. Silence. Then a few hesitant hands were half raised. I did not raise my hand. Over the next four hours we developed statements that defined our passions and related purposes. It has made a huge difference.

My purpose is to “connect people resources and ideas.” It’s who I am and what I do. I live for the “aha” moment when individuals and organizations connect the pieces and see what could be and how to bring it to life.
